Introduction

Background of Standard Formulation and Technological Evolution

This standard was compiled based on the project approval document No. 377 of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development in 2011, led by the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design, and completed jointly by 12 water supply units and scientific research institutions across the country. The technological evolution presents three characteristics:

Core monitoring indicators and technical requirements

1. Gradual monitoring of key water quality indicators

Source water: River-type water needs to monitor six basic indicators including pH online monitor and turbidity meter, while lake-reservoir-type water needs to add chlorophyll a analyzer; Factory water: Monitoring of turbidity and residual chlorine is mandatory, and it is recommended to add particle counter; Pipeline water: Monitoring points are configured according to the service population (≥3 for every 300,000 people).

Innovative Technology Applications

1. Comprehensive Biological Toxicity Monitoring

The standard incorporates two biological early warning technologies for the first time:

  • Luminescent bacteria method: verified by zinc ion EC50 (error ≤5%), CF value must be controlled between 0.6-1.8
  • Fish behavior method: zebrafish behavior analysis sensitivity reaches 0.05TU, requiring 25fps high-speed camera

2. Intelligent operation and maintenance system

Establish a three-level data validity review mechanism:

  1. Equipment self-check: automatically mark over-range/fault data
  2. Manual review: daily check for abnormal fluctuations
  3. Quality control comparison: weekly standard sample calibration (e.g. chlorine meter requires 0.05-1.0mg/L two-point calibration)

Implementation suggestions

Water plant renovation case: A water plant used an online particle monitor (range 0-1800 particles/mL) to optimize the filter backwash cycle, reducing the number of particles in the filtered water by 42%. Main points of operation and maintenance:
  • Cleaning the turbidity meter with hydrochloric acid once a week
  • Calibration of the UV absorber with potassium hydrogen phthalate standard solution every month
  • Replace the test fish of the biological toxicity meter every 15 days
