Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

CY/T 194-2019 is the first industry standard in my country specifically formulated for cold stamping technology, which systematically regulates the technical requirements for the entire process from materials, processes to finished products. This standard is applicable to paper and paper composite materials, and other materials can be used as a reference.

Comparison of key technical indicators

Test items Quality requirements Test methods Instrument accuracy
Cold foil surface hardness (95±2) HA Appendix CA type Shore hardness tester JJG 304
Aluminum layer thickness ±3.0 nm GB/T 15717 1nm graduation value
Adhesive fineness ≤20 μm GB/T 6753.1 Fineness of Grinding Instrument
Overprint Error ≤0.2 mm Scale Magnifier 0.1mm Graduation Value

Key Points of Process Control

Environmental Parameters

The standard requires that the offset/flexographic printing environment temperature be controlled at (23±5)℃, the humidity be (60±10)%, and the UV curing power be 80-150 W/cm (wavelength 280-420nm).

Key process differences

  • Offset printing process: Fountain solution pH 4.6-5.8, conductivity 800-2000 μS/cm
  • Flexo printing process: 100-250 lines/cm anilox roller is required to control the amount of glue

Common defect judgment

The standard clearly defines 7 types of quality defects:

  1. Color flooding: Uneven color of functional coating
  2. Strong lines: Raised ridges around the circumference of the coil (see Appendix B for illustration)
  3. Orange peel: Uneven surface

There shall be no more than 2 defects with a diameter greater than 0.5mm within every 100mm×100mm area.

Implementation Suggestions

Enterprise Application Path

It is recommended to implement the standards in three stages:

Preparation stage Establish a material acceptance database, and configure special equipment such as A/D type Shore hardness tester and UV energy meter
Trial operation stage Focus on monitoring the solid content of adhesive (≥95%) and wetting tension (≥3.8×10⁻² N/m)
Full implementation Establish a process parameter dashboard, and regularly test the film surface hardness (Appendix C) and peel force (GB/T 7122)

Technology Evolution Direction

The standard reflects the three major development trends of cold stamping technology:

  • Environmental protection: room temperature process replaces hot stamping
  • Precision: overprint error requirement ≤0.2mm
  • Standardization: for the first time, the color difference index of holographic/non-holographic cold stamping foil is clarified
