Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

This standard establishes a systematic detection method for the release of formaldehyde, benzene and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) in reading-related printed materials. A climate chamber is used to simulate the real environment for sample pretreatment, and different pollutants are determined by thermal desorption-GCMS and spectrophotometry.

Key points of sample preparation

1. Pretreatment conditions: The sample needs to be treated at (33±2)℃, (50±5)%RH for (6±0.5)h, and the booklet should be unfolded into 7 parts using a bracket to ensure air contact

2. Background value control: Formaldehyde ≤ 0.006mg/m³, single VOC ≤ 0.005mg/m³, TVOC ≤ 0.05mg/m³

3. Special treatment: samples with too large an area need to be cut, but books with full size can be placed in the climate chamber and kept as they are


Innovation of detection method

1. Dual standard system: gas standard method (4.2.1.1.2.1) and liquid standard method (4.2.1.1.2.2) are used to establish calibration curve

2. Secondary thermal desorption technology: set the main desorption temperature of 260-280℃ and cooperate with -30℃ cold trap focusing to improve detection sensitivity

3. Cross-validation: insert every 20 samples into the standard tube for verification, and recalibration is required if the deviation exceeds 15%


Implementation suggestions

1. Equipment selection: the climate chamber should comply with the requirements of CY/T 230-2020, and it is recommended to be equipped with an intelligent device with an online monitoring module

2. Quality control points:

  • Tenax TA adsorption tube is valid for 4 weeks after activation
  • Sampling flow rate control 200-600mL/min
  • Formaldehyde absorption liquid needs to be prepared before use

3. Data correction: the sampling volume needs to be converted to the standard state according to the formula V0=V×(273/(t+273))×(P/101.3)
