Analysis of key technical points

4.1 Selection of welding materials

The new regulations particularly emphasize the application of nickel-based alloy welding materials in austenitic/ferritic dissimilar steel welding. Appendix C lists in detail the chemical composition control requirements of materials such as ERNiCr-3. Typical application case: P91/T92 joints are recommended to use welding wires with a Ni content of ≥62%, and the delta ferrite content of the deposited metal needs to be controlled at 3-10FN.

Implementation suggestions

  1. Pre-welding preparation: Strictly check the parent material grade according to Table 1, and pay special attention to the new requirements for S content of P92 steel in GB/T 5310-2017
  2. Process assessment: Refer to DL/T 868-202X to add the coverage assessment of nickel-based welding materials
  3. Hardness test: When using the portable Brinell hardness tester specified in DL/T 1719, the test surface roughness Ra≤1.6μm

Typical problem handling

A 660MW unit Type IV cracking occurred in the TP347H/12Cr1MoV dissimilar steel joint of the final reheater. After adjusting the tempering temperature to 740±10℃ and extending the insulation time according to the new regulation 8.3, the hardness gradient qualified rate increased to 98%.
