Scope

This standard specifies methods for determining the geological age of uranium series imbalance and the ratio of uranium and thorium isotopes. This standard is applicable to the determination of isotope geological ages and uranium and thorium isotope ratios of terrestrial and marine carbonates in closed systems (such as cave deposits, stalagmites, stalactites, and coral reefs in the ocean that have not recrystallized).
