Textiles — Determination and evaluation for fabric-skin touch comfort — Multi-indexes integration method

1 Scope

This document specifies the determination and evaluation methods for measuring the physical properties of fabrics related to the touch sensation caused by skin contacting with fabrics by multi-index integration method.

This document is applicable to textile fabrics with uniform and regular surface weave, and non-uniform and regular fabrics such as jacquard, lace, hollowed-out fabrics are referred to.

2 Normative references

The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute indispensable provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition (including any amendments) applies.

3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

3.1
touch sensation
subjective impression or cognition of product characteristics obtained through direct contact between product and skin

3.2
tactile sensation
subjective impression generated by the contact and interaction between fabric and body skin

3.3
hand feel
subjective impression of fabric being squeezed, compressed, bent and rubbed in the palm

3.4
face
surface of the fabric used for display
Note: Generally, it refers to the side with obvious weave and clear pattern If there is no obvious difference between the two sides of the fabric, either side may be used as the face
[Source: GB/T 8683-2009, 2.5]

3.5
back
opposite side to the face of the fabric
Note : The back of the fabric has a greater chance of contact with the skin during wearing.
[Source: GB/T 8683-2009, 2.6, modified]

3.6
length direction
direction in which the fabric is woven
Note: The warp direction of woven fabric is the length direction, and the straight direction of knitted fabric is the length direction

3.7
width direction
width direction in which the fabric is woven
Note: The weft direction of woven fabric is the width direction; and the transverse direction of knitted fabric is the width direction

3.8
bending average rigidity
work required to bend the test piece per radian

3.9
bending work
work done by the flexural moment of the test piece during bending

3.10
surface friction coefficient
dynamic friction coefficient of test piece surface
