Scope

This standard specifies the marking and classification, standard ratings and operating conditions, technical requirements and test methods of AC gapless metal oxide arresters (hereinafter referred to as arresters). This standard applies to gapless metal oxide surge arresters designed to limit transient overvoltages in AC power systems. See Chapter 1. 10. See Chapter 1. 11. This Article replaces Chapter 1. This chapter applies to arresters with insulating and (or) shielding jackets that provide system insulation. The arrester is installed in the cabinet to protect the power distribution equipment and circuits. 12. This chapter applies to arresters immersed in insulating liquid. 13.
