《GB/T 12240-2008铁制旋塞阀》由TC188（全国阀门标准化技术委员会）归口，主管部门为中国机械工业联合会。
本标准规定了法兰连接和内螺纹连接的铁制旋塞阀的术语和定义、结构与基本参数、技术要求、材料、试验方法、检验规则以及防护、标志、包装、运输、贮存。
本标准适用于公称压力PN2.5～PN25，公称尺寸DN15～DN600，形式为短型、常规型、文丘里型和圆孔全通径型的旋塞阀放。本标准代替GB/T 12240-1989《通用阀门 铁制旋塞阀》
本标准与GB/T 12240-1989相比主要变化如下：
――增加了“3 术语和定义”；
――补充了第5章“技术要求”，补充了防静电要求、耐火要求等；
――修改了第6章“材料”的要求；
――修改了第7章“试验方法”；
――增加了第8章“检验规则”；
――增加了附录A“客户应提供的资料”。

1 Scope

This standard specifies terms and definitions, structure and basic parameters, technical requirements, materials, test methods, inspection rules, and protection, marking, packing, transportation and storage of those iron plug valves by flange connection and internal thread connection.
This standard is applicable to the short-composition plug valves, normally plug valves, venturi plug valves and full port plug valves of circular hole, of which the nominal pressure is PN2.5~PN25 and the nominal size is DN15~DN600.
