Introduction

Interpretation of the National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB13615-2009

Background of Standard Formulation and Technical Evolution

GB13615-2009 "Earth Station Electromagnetic Environment Protection Requirements" is to regulate the electromagnetic environment of satellite communication earth stations and protect the normal operation of radio communication systems. This standard replaces the 1992 version of GB13615 and updates the technical indicators and test methods in combination with the relevant recommendations of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

Interference sources and allowed values

Category Specific interference source Allowed value (dBm) Test method
Digital microwave relay system Interference caused by wireless relay system to 8-bit PCM telephone system -30 to -25 dBm Spectrum analysis method
Other network earth stations and space stations Interference caused by satellite fixed service network transmitters -20 to -15 dBm Directivity pattern test method
Radio transmitters such as radar, broadcasting, and television Co-frequency, harmonic, and parasitic emission interference -10 to -5 dBm Signal separation and filtering method

Requirements for clearance area in front of the antenna

An open area must be maintained in front of the antenna of the earth station to ensure that there are no obstacles such as trees and buildings. The operating elevation angle of the C band is not less than 5 degrees, and that of the Ku band is not less than 10 degrees.

Actual application case analysis

A satellite communication earth station in a coastal area is interfered by medium wave broadcasting due to its geographical location. According to the standard requirements, its electric field strength should not exceed 125 dB(μV/m). By testing and correcting the spectrum analyzer readings (see Appendix C), compliance with the standards was confirmed and the antenna position was optimized.
