Scope
This document describes the determination of gold content in precious metal alloys by potentiometric titration with ferrous sulfate and gravimetric fire assay. This document applies to the determination of gold content in precious metal alloys. The determination range (mass fraction) for the potentiometric titration with ferrous sulfate is 3.00% to 99.60%; the determination range (mass fraction) for the gravimetric fire assay is 5.00% to 99.60%. The gravimetric fire assay method in this document is applicable to samples containing less than 0.005% platinum group metals.
