Introduction

In-depth interpretation of GB/T 15106—2017 standard for logs for sliced veneer

Introduction: Background and development of the standard

GB/T 15106—2017 is an important wood inspection standard in the national standard, mainly used to guide the production and inspection of logs for sliced veneer. This standard replaces the previous GB/T 15106—2006 version, and has revised the technical requirements in many aspects, including scope, normative reference documents, tree species classification, gauge length tolerance and defect tolerance.

Tree species classification and application

The standard clearly specifies the applicable coniferous and broad-leaved tree species:

  • Coniferous wood: including cypress, fir, spruce, larch, etc.
  • Broad-leaved timber: including birch, oak, ash, camphor and other woods.

Specifications, dimensions and tolerance requirements

Item Measurement length (m) Length tolerance (cm) Measurement diameter range (cm)
Measurement length 2.0, 2.6, 4.0, 5.2, 6.0 ±6 to -2 cm ≥20

Material indicators and allowable limits of defects

Table 1 lists the measurement methods and allowable limits of wood defects in detail:

  • Live knots: ≤10% for conifers and ≤15% for broadleaf trees.
  • Dead knots and rotten knots: ≤10% (conifers) and ≤5% (broadleaf trees).
  • Bends: The ratio of the maximum bend arch height to the horizontal length of the inner bend is ≤2%.

Implementation suggestions and practical application cases

In actual production, it is recommended that:

  1. Strictly inspect logs in accordance with the standards to ensure that the quality meets the requirements.
  2. Establish a complete quality traceability system to record the measurement, defects and treatment methods of each batch of logs.
  3. Regularly train inspectors to improve their technical level and standardization awareness.
