1 Scope

This document specifies the terms and definitions, basic types, technical requirements, inspection and test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage, product certificate and product batch inspection quality certificate of gas cylinder valves.

This document is applicable to valves (hereinafter referred to as valves) for compressed, liquefied and dissolved gas cylinders with ambient temperature of -40°C to +60°C, nominal working pressure not greater than 35 MPa, transportable and refillable.

This document is not applicable to the valves on welded thermal insulation cylinders, fire-fighting cylinders, vehicle cylinders, respirator cylinders, LPG cylinders, liquefied dimethyl ether cylinders and industrial non-refillable welded steel cylinders.

2 Normative references

The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.

3 Terms and definitions

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 13005 and GB/T 33215 and the following apply.

3.1
operating mechanism
mechanism which closes and opens the valve orifice

Note: The mechanism includes internal and external sealing systems.

3.2
operating device
component which actuates the valve operating mechanism

Example: Handwheel, wrench, handle, lever or drive.

3.3
batch
a limited number of valves with the same structure, the same design conditions, the same batch of materials and the same process

3.4
test pressure
pvt
minimum pressure applied to a valve during testing

Note: The test pressure is 1.2 times the nominal working pressure.

3.5
hydraulic test pressure
pvbt
minimum pressure applied to a valve during hydraulic testing

Note: The hydraulic test pressure is 2.25 times the nominal working pressure. The hydraulic test pressure of dissolved acetylene cylinder valve in open state is 90.9MPa.

3.6
minimum closing torque
Tc
minimum torque necessary to be applied to a valve operating device of a newly manufactured valve to obtain internal leak tightness at room temperature and valve test pressure

3.7
endurance torque
Te
operating torque applied during the endurance test

3.7.1
endurance torque at start
Te, start
endurance torque to be applied at the beginning of the endurance test

3.7.2
endurance torque at end
Te, end
endurance torque measured at the end of the endurance test to achieve internal leak tightness

3.8
over torque
To
opening or closing torque (whichever is the lower value) applied to the valve operating device to determine the level of torque which the valve operating mechanism can tolerate and remain operable

3.9
failure torque
Tf
opening or closing torque (whichever is the lower value) applied to the valve operating device to obtain mechanical failure of the valve operating mechanism and/or valve operating device

3.10
residual pressure valve; RPV
valve with residual pressure device

3.11
residual pressure device; RPD
device that prevents contaminants from entering a gas cylinder by closing the internal gas passage in the outlet direction and maintaining positive pressure relative to the atmosphere in the gas cylinder. The device has a check function, which can prevent gas from flowing back to the cylinder from the valve outlet
