1. Background of standard formulation

GB/T15670 series standards are the basic standards for toxicological tests for pesticide registration in my country, which are used to evaluate the safety of pesticides. GB/T15670.27-2017, as the 27th part of the series, is specifically for carcinogenicity tests.

With the popularization of pesticide use, its potential carcinogenic risk has received widespread attention. The formulation of this standard aims to provide a scientific basis for pesticide registration and ensure public health and environmental safety. Compared with the old version, the new version of the standard has made major adjustments in structure, content and requirements, reflecting the progress of toxicological research.

2. Interpretation of carcinogenicity test methods

2.1 Experimental design principles

The core of carcinogenicity test is to evaluate whether long-term exposure to pesticides will lead to tumors. The standard requires the selection of appropriate poisoning routes (oral, percutaneous or inhalation), and the establishment of at least three dose groups and one control group.

2.2 Selection of poisoning routes

Oral poisoning: Applicable to pesticides with good solubility, and can be administered through feed or drinking water. Percutaneous poisoning: Attention should be paid to skin permeability and hair removal to ensure uniform distribution of the test substance. Inhalation poisoning: Use a dynamic poisoning system to strictly control aerosol concentration and particle size.

3. Test results and evaluation

3.1 Tumor incidence calculation

The calculation formula for tumor incidence is: (number of animals with tumors / total number of effective animals) × 100%. The standard clearly states that if there is a significant difference between any dose group and the control group, it can be judged as a positive result.

3.2 Judgment criteria for carcinogenicity test

  • Tumors only occurred in the poisoned group;
  • The tumor incidence in the poisoned group was significantly higher than that in the control group;
  • Multiple tumors appeared in the poisoned group, while there were fewer or none in the control group;
  • Tumors were found earlier in the poisoned group than in the control group.

4. Implementation Suggestions

The experimental unit should:

  1. Ensure that the experimental animals meet the SPF level requirements and avoid interference from foreign pathogens.
  2. Strictly select the exposure route and dosage design according to the standards to ensure the repeatability of the experiment.
  3. Strengthen quality control during the experiment, especially in feed preparation and exposure concentration monitoring.
  4. Establish a complete record and reporting mechanism to ensure the authenticity and integrity of the data.
