Background of standard update and analysis of technological evolution

With the development of the wood industry, higher requirements are placed on the accuracy and efficiency of material performance testing. The original standard GB/T 15777-1995 exposed the following problems during use:

  • The accuracy requirements of the measuring equipment are not clear enough
  • The impact of the loading rate on the test results is not specified
  • Lack of a systematic determination method for the moisture content of the specimen and the width of the annual ring

In response to these problems, the 2017 version of the standard was comprehensively revised, and the main improvements include:

  • Increase the load accuracy requirement of the testing machine to ±1%
  • Add a new method for measuring deformation by sticking strain gauges
  • Expand the deformation gauge range to 10mm~40mm
  • Specify the loading rate to 0.50mm/min, and allow a fluctuation of ±25%

Standard implementation suggestions and precautions

To ensure the effective implementation of the standard, it is recommended to take the following measures:

  • Equipment calibration: Regularly perform metrological verification on the testing machine and measuring device
  • Staff training: Strengthen the understanding and operation specifications of the new test method
  • Data recording: Strictly record the experimental results in the table format provided in Appendix A

Notes:

  • During the loading process, the speed is strictly controlled to be 0.50mm/min, and the error does not exceed ±25%
  • Before each loading, the sample status must be checked to ensure that there is no damage
  • The moisture content determination must be completed within 24 hours after the test
