Scope

This standard specifies the test method for determining the degree of biodegradation of anionic surfactants and nonionic surfactants. The varieties of anionic surfactants applicable to this standard are: straight chain alkyl aryl sulfonate, branched chain alkyl aryl sulfonate, alkyl sulfonate, alkyl sulfate, ethoxylated alkyl sulfate , alkenyl sulfonate; nonionic surfactant varieties are: polyethoxylated alkylphenol, polyethoxylated fatty alcohol, polyethoxylated fatty acid ester, sorbitol fatty acid ester, fatty acyl Diethanolamine. This standard is also applicable to the determination of the biodegradability of the above-mentioned anionic surfactants and nonionic surfactants in detergents.
