GB/T 16679.1-2024, as an important standard in the field of industrial signal codes, replaces the 2009 version and is equivalent to the IEC 61175-1:2015 international standard. This revision presents three major technological breakthroughs:

Analysis of Signal Classification System
The standard innovatively establishes a two-dimensional classification matrix, firstly dividing it into report signal and signal classification according to the direction of information flow. class=instrument>control signal, which is further divided into 8 subcategories:
Typical application case: In a substation system, the circuit breaker status signal uses a Class D indication signal, the voltage measurement uses a Class M signal, and the remote control command belongs to a Class C signal.
Signal code structure scheme

- Object code: Adopt IEC 81346-1 reference code
- Prefix symbol: Fixedly use semicolon (;)
- Signal name: Contains classification code + short name + basic name
- Connection identifier: Optional part introduced by colon (:)
- Characteristic description: Additional parameters enclosed in brackets
Example: =W1E1Q1;M_CT2_I1L3:(10mA) represents the L3 phase measurement signal of No. 2 current transformer in No. 1 bay of the power plant
Implementation suggestions and precautions
Enterprises should focus on the following when implementing:
- Establish a reference code system consistent with IEC 81346
- Signal name domain selection follows the principle of primary object
- Human-machine interface (HMI) display requires language conversion
- Attention should be paid to term mapping during the transition period between the old and new standards
