Scope

This standard specifies the nomenclature used to establish uniform descriptions of freight and other charges related to international shipments and assigns codes to these descriptions. This standard is applicable to any description of freight and other charges in natural language or in the form of codes that appears in paper documents or electronic trade data exchange.
