Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

GB/T18663.2-2021, as an equivalent adopted standard of IEC615872:2011, specifies the test methods for electronic equipment cabinets and racks in simulated seismic environments. Compared with the 2007 version, the main technical upgrades include:

  • New triaxial acceleration test requirements (Chapter 5.4)
  • Relax the top displacement limit from 50mm to 75mm (Clause 6.c)
  • Add a quantitative indicator for structural member deformation ≤6mm (Clause 6.a)

Comparison of key technical parameters

Test type Zero cycle acceleration Duration Damping ratio Frequency range
Uniaxial test 16m/s² ≥18s 2% 1-50Hz
Triaxial test Horizontal12m/s²
Vertical6m/s²
≥30s 3% 1-50Hz

Key points for test implementation

Specimen configuration specifications

According to clause 4.2 of the standard, the load distribution of the cabinet must comply with the following:

  1. Each layer of the upper 4 layers has 25kg simulated plug-in (M3)
  2. Total load in the middle is 60kg (M5)
  3. Fixed counterweight at the bottom is 90kg (M4)

The actual case shows that When the side panels of a 19-inch rack are not installed, the seismic performance decreases by about 15-20%.

Analysis of Standard Evolution

The development of this standard reflects three technical trends:

  • From uniaxial to multi-axial: the newly added triaxial synchronous test is closer to the actual earthquake condition
  • From qualitative to quantitative: specific indicators such as 6mm deformation replace fuzzy descriptions
  • International coordination: the IEC standard system is fully adopted to facilitate export product certification

Enterprise implementation suggestions

  1. Give priority to triaxial testing to verify high-end cabinet products
  2. The door lock structure should be able to withstand a horizontal acceleration of 12m/s²
  3. It is recommended to conduct the TRS/RRS spectrum analysis required by Clause 5.2 during the R&D stage
