Scope

This standard specifies the basic requirements for laboratory tests of vibrations transmitted to the occupant through vehicle seats. These measurement and analysis methods can be used to compare the test results of different laboratories. This standard specifies test methods, requirements for test instruments, methods of measurement and evaluation, and report methods of test results. This standard applies to laboratory seat tests that evaluate the vibrations transmitted to the occupants of any type of seat used in vehicles and movable non-road machinery. For vibration tests of seats on vehicles and machines of a particular type, evaluation should be made with reference to this standard when the defined test input vibration energy is representative of its vibration characteristics.
