Scope

1.1 General This International Standard specifies requirements for a quality management system for an organization that: needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements; through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and assurance Comply with customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements with the aim of enhancing customer satisfaction. 1.2 Application All requirements specified in this standard are generic and intended to be applicable to organizations of all types, sizes and offerings. Conformity to this standard cannot be claimed unless exclusions are limited to those requirements of clause 7 of this standard that do not affect the organization's ability or responsibility to provide product that satisfies customers and applicable laws and regulations. This standard applies to software that: is part of a commercial contract with another organization; a product available on the market; used to support an organization's processes; embedded in a hardware product; associated with a software service. Some organizations may be involved in all of the above-mentioned related activities, while others may only be involved in one of the business areas. However, an organization's quality management system should cover all aspects of its business (software-related and non-software-related).
