4.1 Functional requirements

The new version of the standard clearly divides the detection mode into two types: lateral detection and forward detection:

  • Lateral mode: The detection section is perpendicular to the direction of traffic flow, and 95% traffic flow detection accuracy must be achieved
  • Forward mode: the detection section is parallel to the direction of traffic flow, and supports simultaneous detection of multiple sections

Implementation suggestions and precautions

Equipment selection suggestions

  1. Give priority to equipment that supports NTP/PTP time synchronization (error ≤10ms)
  2. Confirm that the equipment has IP65 protection grade and -40℃~+70℃ operating temperature range
  3. Verify that the 24GHz frequency band transmission power spectrum density is ≤-80dBm/Hz

Installation and debugging points

According to Appendix A requirements:

  • The recommended installation height for lateral mode is 6m, and the vertical distance of the detection section is ≥45m
  • A laser rangefinder is required to calibrate the installation position
  • The actual road test traffic volume should be ≥1000 vehicles/hour
