Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining the coefficient of linear expansion of rigid foamed plastics below ambient temperature. This standard applies to the determination of the "average" coefficient of linear expansion of rigid foamed plastics between selected low temperatures and ambient temperatures. The coefficient of linear expansion measured by this standard is only valid for the specific sample tested within the test time. Rigid foam plastics are anisotropic, and the results obtained from tests in different directions are not comparable.
