Introduction

Background of Standard Revision and Technological Evolution

This document replaces GB/T 20899.10-2007 version. The main technical changes include:

Changes2007 version2025 version
Determination methodHydride generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometryFlame atomic absorption spectrometry
Interference eliminationUnspecifiedNew interference element elimination method
Precision indexToleranceRepeatability and reproducibility

Method 1: Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry

Technical Principle

After the sample is decomposed by nitric acid-sulfuric acid, the absorbance of antimony is measured at a wavelength of 217.6nm by an atomic absorption spectrometer. The characteristic concentration is ≤0.30μg/mL.

Key Operating Parameters

Antimony Content RangeSample Weight (g)Aliquot Volume (mL)
0.050%-0.50%0.30Full Amount
>0.50%-1.00%0.20Full Amount
>1.00%-5.00%0.2020.00

Method 2: Cerium Sulfate Titration

Reaction Mechanism

In a hydrochloric acid medium, using methyl orange as an indicator, cerium sulfate oxidizes Sb(III) to Sb(V). The red color of the solution disappears at the endpoint. The standard solution calibration requirement is a range of ≤ 2×10-4 mol/L.

Key points of operation

  • Decomposition temperature: 350℃slightly boiling for 30 minutes
  • Titration conditions: 80-90℃hot solution
  • Filter paper dosage: about 8cm2as reducing agent

Precision comparison analysis

  1. Low content samples (<0.5%): Spectroscopy is preferred for higher sensitivity.
  2. High content samples (>2%): Titration is used to avoid dilution error.
  3. Samples with high carbon content: Nitric acid and sulfuric acid mixture should be added to assist decomposition during the titration method.

Key points for quality control

  • Regularly check the linear correlation coefficient of the atomic absorption spectrometer (≥0.999).
  • Use a Class A measuring instrument during the titration method, and control the temperature within ±2°C.
  • Both methods require a double blank test
