3.1 Scope and normative references

GB/T 22335-2018 applies to cotton processing enterprises, mainly involving the processing of fine-thread cotton and long-thread cotton. Normative references include GB 1103 series, GB 6975, GB/T 18353, etc., to ensure the standardization of the processing process.

3.2 Basic requirements

Staff requirements:All personnel entering the processing area must wear white pure cotton hats, and are prohibited from carrying fire and using items that are prone to produce foreign fibers. This requirement is intended to prevent foreign impurities from affecting the quality of cotton.

3.3 Processing requirements

Preparation before seed cotton processing:During the sale and purchase process, seed cotton must not be mixed with hazardous debris, including metal, bricks, foreign fibers, etc. The control of moisture regain and trash content is the key indicator, as follows:
- The moisture regain of hand-picked cotton is ≤10%, and the moisture regain of machine-picked cotton is ≤12%.
- In terms of trash content, machine-picked cotton requires ≤12%.

3.4 Process system and equipment requirements

Process system:The processing process includes the processing of hand-picked cotton, machine-picked cotton and long-line cotton. A bypass system should be set up in the process system to select different routes according to the trash content of seed cotton.
Key equipment: Equipment such as cotton gins, wire strippers, and balers must comply with national standards, such as the number of sawtooth cotton gins ≥80 pieces, and the length of roller cotton gins ≥1000mm.
