Scope

This standard provides a detailed description of the sampling method for bulk material acceptance through the determination of variables and the use of bulk material acceptance procedures. These sampling plans are subject to specific operating characteristic curves at reasonable cost. This standard is applicable to the acceptance inspection whose main factor is the batch average value of a single quality characteristic, and also gives the specific acceptance inspection procedure for multiple quality characteristics; this standard can be applied to those whose standard deviation is known or Unknown situation. This standard can be used for all kinds of bulk materials, but for materials such as iron ore, coal, crude oil, etc., it is more important to estimate the batch mass average than to determine the acceptability of the batch, this standard is not fully used. When there is no applicable standard measurement method so that the measurement standard deviation accounts for a major part of the total standard deviation, such as liquid bulk sampling, this standard elaborates on some special sampling plans and procedures.
