GB/T 22638.1-2016 Test methods for aluminium and aluminium alloy foils – Part 1: Determination of thickness

1 Scope

This part of GB/T 22638 specifies the determination method for the thickness of aluminium and aluminium alloy foils.

The gravimetric method specified in this part is applicable to arbitral determination of thickness of non-composite foil with thickness less than 0.10 mm.

The vertical optimeter method specified in this part is applicable to the arbitral measurement of the thickness of composite foil with thickness less than 0.10 mm.

The digital micrometer method specified in this part is applicable to arbitral measurement of aluminum foil thickness with thickness not less than 0.10 mm.

3 Terms and Definitions

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 8005.1-2008 and the following apply.

4 Gravimetric method

4.1 Principle

In this part, the thickness and areal density of aluminium and aluminium alloy foils are calculated by weighing the mass of samples of aluminium and aluminium alloy foils with known area and density.

4.2 Apparatuses

4.2.1 Analytical balance: with a sensitivity of 0.1 mg.

4.2.2 Sampler, with quantitative standard and a sample area of 100 cm2.
