Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for the use conditions, ratings, design and structure, testing, selection guidelines, transportation, storage, installation, operation and maintenance of $1~100~\mathrm{kV}$ high-voltage AC circuit breakers. This standard applies to high-voltage AC circuit breakers designed for installation outdoors or indoors and operating in ultra-high voltage power systems with a frequency of $50~\mathrm{Hz}$ and a nominal voltage of $1000\mathrm{kV}$. This standard also applies to the operating mechanism and auxiliary equipment of $1100\mathrm{kV}$ circuit breakers. Except for circuit breakers with single-pole automatic reclosing, circuit breakers with predetermined inter-pole asynchronism are not included in the scope of this standard. Bypass circuit breakers connected in parallel with line series capacitors and their protection equipment are not included in the scope of this standard.
