Scope

This standard specifies the basic requirements for the installation of communication network media within and between islands of automation in industrial environments and on industrial sites. This standard covers symmetrical cable cabling and fiber optic cabling, as well as cabling facilities for wireless media, but does not cover the wireless media itself. For other media see the IEC 61784-5 series of standards. This standard is a supporting standard for the communication network of the industrial automation island, especially for the communication network specified in the IEC 61158 series and the IEC 61784 series of standards. In addition, this standard also includes: ——Installation of integrated telecommunication cabling in industrial environments specified in ISO/IEC 24702; ——Connection between integrated telecommunication cabling specified in ISO/IEC 24702 and specific wiring of automation islands, where The Automation Outgoing (AO) replaces the Telecommunications Outgoing (TO) of ISO/IEC 24702. This standard provides guidelines for addressing key issues in the field of industrial automation (topology, climatic conditions, vibration, chemical contamination, EMC, functional safety, information security, etc.). This standard assigns tasks, regulations and corresponding responsibilities to designers, installers, verifiers and acceptance testers, management and maintenance personnel, and/or gives guidance.
