Scope

This standard specifies the general criteria for proving that new rail transit vehicles comply with standards or other normative documents through tests. Part or all of this standard applies to all rail transit rolling stock, but does not include special rolling stock, such as track laying machines, ballast cleaners and commuter cars. For special-purpose rolling stock, the scope of application of this standard can be specified in the contract. This standard may be used, if applicable, for: - generating sets installed on rolling stock for auxiliary purposes; - electric drive systems for trolleybuses or similar rolling stock; - control of rolling stock with non-electric traction systems and auxiliary equipment; - rolling stock guided, suspended or electrically propelled by a system not using wheel-rail adhesion.
