1 Scope

This part specifies the dedicated terminologies of rotating electrical machine.

This part is applicable to set standard, prepare technical documents, draft and translate professional manual, teaching materials, books and periodicals for the usage of personal (they are engaged in production, scientific research, application and education in electrician and relevant fields) in relevant departments.

The terminologies specified in this part are consist with the content in relevant part of GB/T 2900.1 Electrotechnical Terminology - Fundamental Terms; if necessary, the undefined terminologies in this part may be defined in relevant standards.

2 Normative References

The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this part of GB/T 2900, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments to (excluding correction to), or revisions of, any of these publications are not applicable. However, the parties who enter into an agreement according to this part are encouraged to research whether the latest editions of these documents are applied or not. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document is applicable to this part.

3.1 General Terms

an electrical apparatus depending on electromagnetic induction for its operation and having components capable of relative rotary movement and intended for converting energy

Note: This term also applies to electrical apparatus operating on the same principle and similar construction and intended for other purposes. E.g. regulation, supplying or absorbing reactive power. It is not intended to cover electrostatic machines.

a machine in which the magnetic flux passes in the same direction from one member to the other over the whole area of a single air-gap

a direct current homopolar machine

a machine having successive physical or effective poles of opposite polarity
