GB/T 30197-2018 "Test method for operating ability of engineering machinery tires - Drum method" replaces the old version GB/T 30197-2013, mainly adding term definitions and modifying test equipment requirements. The new standard introduces key concepts such as "rated value", "equilibrium temperature" and "critical temperature", and refines the recording specifications for drilling position and ambient temperature.

3. Practical Application and Case Study

Drilling Position Specifications: Position the drill holes in increments of up to 50mm from the tire centerline to the shoulders on both sides. Each test hole is 5mm ±0.5mm in diameter and is located on the tread block to ensure that the depth does not exceed 5mm from the top ply.


Temperature Measurement Procedure: After numbering the temperature measurement holes, each test is performed in the same order. When the temperature is stable (the highest difference in three consecutive measurements is less than 3°C), record the equilibrium temperature and critical temperature values.

4. Numerical calculation and processing

TKPH rating calculation: When the ambient temperature is 38°C, draw a curve with the product of test load and speed as the horizontal axis and the equilibrium temperature as the vertical axis. The TKPH value corresponding to the critical temperature is the rated operating capacity of the tire.

5. Implementation suggestions

  • Ensure that the test equipment meets the requirements of the new standard, especially the radial runout accuracy of the drum and the accuracy of the thermocouple.
  • Strengthen personnel training and master the accurate methods of drilling positioning and temperature measurement.
  • It is recommended to calibrate the equipment regularly to ensure the accuracy of the test data.
