Introduction
1. Standard background and scope of application
GB/T32551-2016 "Flow plate test method for determination of transportable moisture limit of bulk fluorite powder" is the first standard formulated in my country for the transportation safety of bulk fluorite powder. It aims to determine its transportable moisture limit (TML) through flow plate test to ensure the safety of goods in non-special vessel transportation.

Background:With the increase in the export volume of fluorite powder in my country, problems such as fluidization of cargo and affected ship stability due to excessive moisture content in bulk transportation have become increasingly prominent. Such risks can be effectively prevented through the implementation of standards.
Case 1:When a trader exported a batch of fluorite powder, he did not determine the transportable moisture limit according to the standard. As a result, due to bad weather during sea transportation, the cargo fluidized, causing the ship to tilt. Upon investigation, the moisture content of the batch of cargo far exceeded the TML value.
Case 2:Another trader strictly measured and controlled the moisture content in accordance with the GB/T32551-2016 standard. No safety accidents occurred during transportation, which demonstrated the effectiveness and necessity of the standard.
4. Implementation suggestions
- Strict sampling and sample preparation:Ensure the representativeness of the samples to avoid deviations in the measurement results due to uneven sampling.
- Equipment calibration:Regularly verify and calibrate key instruments such as flow pans, balances, and ovens to ensure the accuracy of experimental data.
- Staff training:Strengthen the understanding of the standards and the study of operating specifications, especially the judgment of fluidization phenomena and emergency response measures.
- Establish a traceability system:It is recommended that companies establish a complete test record and result tracking system to quickly trace the source when problems arise.
