Introduction
GB/T32771-2016 "Quality Grading of Birch Afforestation Seedlings" Standard Interpretation
I. Background and Significance of Standard Formulation
As an important afforestation tree species, birch occupies an important position in forestry ecological construction due to its fast-growing and high-yielding characteristics. However, the uneven quality of seedlings directly affects the afforestation survival rate and forest stand quality.
This standard was proposed and coordinated by the State Forestry Administration, and the main drafting units were Baishan Forestry Science Research Institute and other authoritative institutions, which fully reflects its scientificity and practicality.
| Seedling type | Seedling age | Seedling grade | Ground diameter (cm) | Seedling height (cm) | Root length (cm) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sowing seedlings | 1.0-0 | Grade I | 0.45 | 35 | 20 |
| Sowing seedlings | 1.6-0 | Grade II | 0.60 | 45 | 25 |
II. Core content and technical specifications of the standard
1. Grading requirements
This standard mainly uses comprehensive control conditions, root system, ground diameter and seedling height as the basis for determining the grade of seedlings. Among them, comprehensive control conditions include important indicators such as no quarantined pests and diseases, straight seedling stems, and normal color.
2. Test methods
The standard specifies detailed sampling methods and test steps. For example, in the sampling of nursery seedlings, mechanical sampling or random number table method is used to ensure the representativeness of the sample; while in the sampling of seedlings that have been planted, the sampling is carried out in sample bundles or piles.
III. Case analysis in practical application
In the actual application of a forest farm in Jilin Province, this standard was used to grade white birch seedlings. The results showed that:
- Grade I seedlings accounted for 60%, significantly higher than the industry average;
- The overall survival rate of seedlings reached 95%, and the afforestation effect was significantly improved.
IV. Implementation suggestions and future prospects
To ensure the effective implementation of the standard, it is recommended that:
- Strengthen the publicity and training of seedling grading;
- Establish a regional seedling quality monitoring network;
- Promote the construction of standardized afforestation demonstration areas.
