GB/T 33022-2016 standard specifies the terms and definitions of modified wood, which is applicable to modified wood prepared by treating wood by physical, chemical and other methods.

| Heat-treated wood | Wood treated in a high temperature and low oxygen environment of 160℃~230℃ for a certain period of time. |
| Acetylated wood | Modified wood made by converting the hydroxyl groups in wood into acetoxy groups through a chemical reaction. |
