Introduction

1. Standard Overview

GB/T33335-2016 "High-purity Industrial Boron Tribromide" standard specifies the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules and safety precautions of high-purity industrial boron tribromide. This standard applies to products made from industrial boron tribromide as raw material after purification.

2. Background of Standard Formulation

With the development of the semiconductor industry, the demand for high-purity chemical materials is increasing. Boron tribromide, as an important electronic chemical, is widely used in solar photovoltaic cells, liquid crystal display devices and other fields. In order to meet the strict requirements of high-end manufacturing industry for product purity and quality, this standard came into being.

3. Technical Requirements

4. Test Methods

Purity determination: The purity was calculated by deducting the total mass fraction of cations using the standard addition method using an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS).

Metal impurity detection: ICP-MS was used to quantitatively analyze the cations in the sample. The concentration value was determined by referring to the relative atomic mass of the isotopes of the elements in Table 2, and the metal impurity content was calculated according to formula (2).


5. Applications

High-purity industrial boron tribromide is mainly used for:

  • Diffusion source of solar photovoltaic cells
  • Diffusion process of large-scale integrated circuits (IC) and separation devices
  • Manufacturing of liquid nitrogen display devices

6. Safety regulations

Warning: Boron tribromide is highly corrosive and volatile. Protective equipment must be worn during operation to avoid contact with water. In case of leakage, it should be handled with mud or lime, and the contaminated area should be flushed with a large amount of running water.
