Introduction

In-depth interpretation of GB/T 33385—2016 flame retardant chemical brucite standard

1. Background of standard formulation and analysis of technological evolution

Flame retardant chemicals play an important role in modern industry. As a highly efficient flame retardant, brucite is widely used in plastics, rubber, fiber and other fields. The formulation of GB/T 33385—2016 standard aims to standardize the quality and technical requirements of brucite to ensure its safety and reliability.

This standard is managed by the National Technical Committee for Chemical Standardization and proposed by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, which fully reflects the industry's authority and practicality.

2. Comparative analysis of standard frameworks

Dimensions GB/T 33385—2016 International comparison (such as ISO standard) Industry reference
Scope of application Powdered flame retardant made from crushed brucite ore Applicable to general-purpose inorganic flame retardant Refer to ASTM D701 standard
Key indicators Magnesium oxide (MgO), calcium oxide (CaO), hydrochloric acid insoluble matter, moisture, etc. Including sulfur content and halogen content Refer to UL 94 Flame retardant grade test
Test method Titration, burning method, sieve residue determination, etc. Chromatographic analysis, thermogravimetric analysis Refer to ISO 17025 laboratory requirements

3. Recommendations and precautions for standard implementation

3.1 Interpretation and control of key indicators

Magnesium oxide (MgO) content:The core flame retardant component of brucite, which directly affects its performance. The standard requires that the first-class product is ≥64% and the qualified product is ≥60%. It is recommended that manufacturers improve the purity of MgO by optimizing the ore source and processing technology.

Moisture control:High moisture may lead to unstable storage and limited application. It is recommended to use efficient drying equipment to ensure that the moisture index meets the requirements.

3.2 Sampling and Inspection Rules

  • Each batch of products shall not exceed 50 tons for one production cycle.
  • The sampling method specified in GB/T6678 shall be adopted to ensure the representativeness of the samples.
  • The factory inspection items include all the indicators in Table 1. It is recommended to focus on monitoring the iron content and particle size distribution.
