Introduction
Analysis of core changes in the standard
| Technical elements | 2016 version | 2021 version | Impact of changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scope of application | Limited to long-distance pipeline networks | Expanded to conventional/unconventional natural gas | Covering new gas sources such as coalbed methane and shale gas |
| Upper limit of Wobbe index | 53.1MJ/m³ | 53.8MJ/m³ | Adapt to gas sources with higher calorific value |
| Determination of fluctuation range | ±5% recommended value | ≤5% mandatory requirement | Improve interchange stability |
Technical interpretation of key indicators
The Wobbe index is calculated using the formula: W=H/√d, where:
- H: high calorific value (defined in GB/T11062)
- d: relative density (air=1)
The boundary value of the interchangeability box is determined by four vertices:
- A(39.90,53.80) - high calorific value boundary
- D(35.42,42.34) - low calorific value boundary
Implementation and application suggestions
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Blending Case
A receiving station imported LNG with a Wobbe index of 58.2MJ/m³ and transported gas through a blending pipe (W=49.5MJ/m³). It is necessary to ensure that:
- W≤53.8MJ/m³ after mixing
- Relative deviation from the original gas source W≤5%
- Real-time monitoring using a gas chromatograph
Background of Standard Evolution
This revision reflects three major trends:
- Multi-gas source supply pattern: Adapting to the development of unconventional gas such as shale gas
- Increase in imported LNG: Relaxation of high calorific value restrictions
- Improvement of combustion equipment: Improving the adaptability of gas appliances
