Introduction

1. Background and significance of standard formulation

GB/T 34313-2017 "Classification and Assessment of Tour Guides" is an important standard that came into being in the context of the rapid development of the tourism industry. As the demand of the tourism market becomes increasingly diversified, the improvement of the quality of tour guide services is particularly important. This standard aims to regulate the professional behavior of tour guides, clarify the knowledge, ability and performance requirements of tour guides of different levels, provide a basis for the assessment of tour guide skill levels, vocational education and training, and promote the effective implementation of GB/T15971 "Guide Service Specifications".

2. Classification of tour guides and technological evolution

Levels Knowledge requirements Ability requirements Other conditions
Primary tour guide Familiar with basic tourism policies and laws and regulations, master basic cultural knowledge and language expression skills. Able to provide standardized services and have good communication and coordination skills. High school degree or above, passed the national tour guide qualification examination.
Intermediate tour guide Master policies and laws and regulations related to tourism services, and be proficient in special knowledge. Able to provide personalized and innovative services and be able to handle emergencies. College degree or above, passed the national intermediate tour guide grade examination, and obtained the junior tour guide for 2 years.
Senior tour guide Fully master tourism service policies and laws and regulations, and be proficient in subject knowledge and language and literature knowledge. Possess superb tour guide art and innovative service ability, and be able to properly handle various emergencies. College degree or above, passed the national advanced tour guide grade examination, and obtained the intermediate tour guide for 2 years.
Special tour guide Have profound tourism knowledge and cultural research, and be proficient in cross-cultural communication or foreign language translation. Possess superb tour guide art, unique style, and be able to create ideological and artistic tour guides. College degree or above, passed the national advanced tour guide assessment, and obtained the senior tour guide for 3 years.

3. Implementation Suggestions

Training and Education:Strengthen the vocational training of tour guides, and focus on the combination of professional knowledge and practical ability. Establish a multi-level training system and design special training courses for tour guides of different levels.

Assessment and Evaluation:Strictly conduct tour guide level assessment in accordance with standard requirements to ensure that the assessment process is open, fair and just. Regularly conduct spot checks and evaluations on tour guide services, identify problems in a timely manner and propose improvement measures.

Service Quality Improvement:Encourage tour guides to continuously improve their own quality and actively participate in industry exchanges and experience sharing.
