3. Implementation Suggestions and Notes
Step Description:
- Choose the appropriate sample volume according to the sample concentration, refer to the following table:
Ammonia nitrogen content/(mg/L) Sample volume/(mL) 10.0~1 000.0 25.0 >1 000.0~3 500.0 10.0 - Add 20 mL sulfuric acid solution and 25 mL water to a conical flask and boil for 2-3 minutes.
- After cooling, add methyl red indicator for preliminary titration and record the volume of sodium hydroxide solution consumed.
- Then add 15 mL neutral formaldehyde solution, add phenolphthalein indicator solution, and titrate with standard sodium hydroxide solution to the pink endpoint.
Notes:
- Make sure all reagents are analytically pure and use distilled water of grade 3 or above that meets the requirements of GB/T 6682.
- Avoid skin contact with the test solution during the experiment, and the waste liquid needs to be recycled to meet environmental protection requirements.
- During the titration process, the liquid addition speed must be strictly controlled to ensure accurate color changes.
