1 Scope

This standard is applicable to vehicle test methods of hydrogen emission for fuel cell engine.

This standard is applicable to the proton exchange membrane fuel cell engine for vehicles.

3 Requirements of Testing Apparatus

The accuracy requirements of testing apparatus are shown in Table1.

4 Measuring Condition

4.1 Requirements of fuel cell engines

Fuel cell engines shall meet the following requirements:

——Maintain the shape and technical parameters of the fuel cell engine at the time of delivery;

——The fuel cell engine system shall be complete, and consistent with the loading condition;

——Fuel cell engine insulation performance, air tightness and other related safety performance shall meet the requirements of GB/T 24554;

——The fuel cell engine shall have a reliable safety protection system;

——The hydrogen mass flowmeter shall be installed as close as possible to the hydrogen inlet of the fuel cell engine;

——Fuel cell engines shall use commercial fuels that meet the test requirements. In case of any discrepancy, the fuel requirements shall comply with ISO 14687-2.

4.2 Pre-test fuel cell engine state regulations

Before test, fuel cell engines state shall meet the following requirements:

——Coolant filling completed;

——Preparation for the fuel cell engine is completed and the command can be started.

4.3 Requirements of test data acquisition and power loading error

The requirements of test data acquisition and power loading error as follow:

——Test data sampling frequency shall not less than 2 Hz;

——The power loading error cannot exceed 3%, otherwise the test result is invalid.

5 Testing Method

5.1 Test of hydrogen emission in steady state

5.1.1 Test condition

Prior to the test, the fuel cell engine shall in a warm state, and the heat engine method shall comply with the method specified in GB/T 24554. The test process shall be automated and there shall be no manual intervention.

5.1.2 Test methods

Test methods shall meet the following requirements:

a) Select 11 condition points within the fuel cell engine operating range, namely, idle speed, 10% PE, 20% PE, 30% PE, 40% PE, 50% PE, 60% PE, 70% PE, 80% PE, 90% PE, PE;

b) The fuel cell engine carries out the heat engine, after the process finishes, returns to the idling state to run for 10s;

c) According to the specified loading method, it is loaded into the pre-determined condition point, and at least continuously and stably runs for 3 min at each condition point;

d) The length of analysis data for each condition point shall not be less than 2 minutes.

5.1.3 Data measured and recorded in the test process

Data measured during the test, including hydrogen flow rate, fuel cell stack voltage, fuel cell stack current, and others.

5.1.4 Test results processing

The actual hydrogen consumption of the fuel cell stack, the theoretical hydrogen consumption of the fuel cell stack, the hydrogen emission, and the hydrogen emission rate shall be tested according to the methods provided in Annex A.
