Introduction
Interpretation of the standard for the test method for shrinkage strain ratio of metal pipes
1. Background and significance of the standard
GB/T 34645-2017 "Test method for shrinkage strain ratio of metal pipes" is an important standard for high-precision special-purpose metal pipes such as titanium, zirconium and stainless steel. It aims to evaluate the plastic deformation characteristics of materials by measuring the shrinkage strain ratio (CSR).
2. Comparative analysis of standard frameworks
| Standard dimensions | GB/T 34645—2017 | Comparison with international advanced levels |
|---|---|---|
| Scope of application | Metal pipes such as titanium, zirconium and stainless steel | Covering a wider range of high-precision special-purpose pipes |
| Test principle | Calculation based on the volume invariance principle and plastic true strain ratio | Consistent with international general methods |
| Key parameters | Contraction strain ratio (CSR) and plastic true strain ratio | Complies with relevant ISO standards |
3. Technical principle and test device
The test is based on the plastic deformation characteristics of metal materials under uniaxial tensile stress. The contraction strain ratio (CSR) is calculated by measuring the plastic true strain ratio of the axial, circumferential and wall thickness. The key devices include:
- Tensile testing machine: in accordance with the requirements of GB/T 228.1, with an accuracy not less than Grade 1
- Extensometer: calibrated in accordance with the requirements of GB/T 12160
- Precision measuring device: length measurement accuracy ≥ 0.013mm, diameter measurement accuracy ≥ 0.005mm
4. Implementation Suggestions
Case Study: Application of TA18 Titanium Alloy Hydraulic Pipe
In actual production, it is recommended to follow the following steps:
- Specimen preparation: ensure that there are no scratches on the surface, and the uniformity of diameter and wall thickness meets the requirements
- Gauge length measurement: use high-precision instruments to ensure the consistency of the measurement benchmark
- Tensile test: control the strain rate within the range of (0.005±0.002) min⁻¹, and terminate at the specified total elongation
- Data processing: calculate the CSR value according to the standard formula and round off the significant figures
