GB/T 34783-2017 "Determination of ramie fiber fineness - Air flow method" is an important standard for the determination of ramie fiber fineness in the People's Republic of China. The standard was issued in 2017 and aims to standardize the quality inspection method of ramie fiber and improve the product quality and technical level of the industry.

3. Analysis of the core content of the standard

3.1 Determination principle

This standard is based on the airflow method. By measuring the air pressure difference and airflow flow at both ends of the fiber plug, combined with the relationship between linear density and metric count, the fineness of ramie fiber is calculated. The formula is as follows:

Y = -9.140X + 3041.268

Z = 0.034X + 0.982


3.2 Key equipment and instruments

  • Constant pressure airflow instrument: The pressure difference is 180 mm water column and 160 mm water column respectively.
  • Balance: The graduation value is 0.1 mg, which is used to accurately weigh fiber samples.

3.3 Experimental steps and result processing

The experimental steps include sample preparation, airflow meter operation, data reading and calculation. The test results must be rounded according to GB/T 8170, with metric counts retained as integers and linear density retained as two decimal places.
