Introduction
National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 35254—2017
Special Carbon-based Products for Integrated Flue Gas Purification
Scope
This standard applies to special carbon-based products for integrated flue gas purification for the removal of pollutants such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and mercury from flue gas in coal-fired power plants, tail gas from non-ferrous metal smelting, tail gas from sintering, coking flue gas, and flue gas from waste incineration.
Classification
| Category | Description |
|---|---|
| Class A (molding class) | The particle size is divided into Class A1 and Class A2, which is suitable for scenarios with a high removal efficiency for flue gas pollutants. |
| Class B (amorphous type) | Has good adsorption performance and is suitable for small and medium-sized flue gas purification systems. |
| Class C (powder type) | It has a small particle size and is suitable for high-precision pollutant removal and complex flue gas environments. |
Main indicators and technical requirements

Testing methods
The testing of carbon-based products for flue gas integrated purification includes the determination of key indicators such as appearance, sulfur capacity, denitrification rate, and mercury capacity. Among them, the test of 4h sulfur capacity and circulating sulfur capacity uses a computer automatic gas distribution system and a fixed bed reactor to simulate flue gas adsorption test to ensure data accuracy and repeatability.
Background of standard formulation and technological evolution
With the continuous strengthening of my country's environmental protection policies, the demand for flue gas pollutant control in industries such as coal-fired power plants and non-ferrous metal smelting is becoming increasingly urgent. GB/T 35254-2017 is based on advanced domestic and foreign technological achievements and combined with practical application experience. It aims to standardize the quality and technical requirements of carbon-based products for flue gas integrated purification and promote technological progress in the industry.
Case study: application in a coal-fired power plant
Through actual application in a coal-fired power plant, the high efficiency of Class A carbon-based products in this standard in desulfurization, denitrification and mercury adsorption was verified. The results show that the use of carbon-based products that meet the standards can reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by 85% and nitrogen oxide emissions by 70%.
Implementation recommendations
- It is recommended that companies refer to the inspection rules and index requirements listed in the standards when purchasing carbon-based products to ensure that product quality meets actual needs.
- During use, it is recommended to regularly monitor the performance changes of carbon-based products and replace or regenerate adsorption materials in a timely manner to maintain efficient pollutant removal effects.
- It is recommended to use automated detection equipment and technology to improve the operating efficiency and stability of the flue gas purification system.
