Introduction
1. Standard Overview
SM2 cryptographic algorithm is a set of asymmetric encryption algorithms defined by GB/T32918, including digital signature, key agreement and public key encryption functions. This standard (GB/T 35276-2017) aims to standardize the use and data format of SM2 algorithm.
2. Comparison of standard frameworks
| Standard dimensions | GB/T 35276—2017 | Related international standards |
|---|---|---|
| Algorithm type | Elliptic curve public key cryptography | RFC 5431 (ECDSA) |
| Core functions | Signature, encryption, key agreement | Digital Signature Algorithm (DSA) |
| Security | 256-bit security strength | NIST 130-2 recommended elliptic curve |
3. Core Technology Analysis
3.1 Key Pair Generation
SM2 private key is an integer with a length of 256 bits, satisfying 1 < k < n-1 (n is the order of the elliptic curve). SM2 public key is a point (x, y) on the elliptic curve, and each component is also 256 bits.
3.2 Data Conversion Mechanism
- Bit string to byte string: fill with zeros when less than 8 bits to ensure that the result is an integer multiple of 8.
- Byte string to bit string: convert each byte into an 8-bit binary string.
4. Implementation Recommendations
- Key Management: Update SM2 key pairs regularly to ensure secure storage of private keys.
- Preprocessing Optimization: Set user identity IDs appropriately. The default value is a 16-byte sequence (0x31-0x38).
- Security Testing: When using the SM2 algorithm for encryption and signing operations, ensure that the hash value calculation complies with the SM3 standard.
