Optional Determined by data characteristics Required

Background of standard formulation and analysis of technological evolution

Scientific data citation is an important part of the field of information technology. With the digitization and networking of scientific research, how to cite scientific data in a standardized manner has become increasingly important. The formulation of GB/T 35294-2017 standard aims to solve the citation problem in data sharing and ensure that the source of data is traceable and the right of use is clear.

The importance of unique identifiers

Unique identifiers are the core elements of scientific data citation. According to the standard requirements, unique identifiers should have the following characteristics:

  • Unambiguous: Ensure that each data set can be accurately identified.
  • Uniqueness: Maintain uniqueness globally to avoid conflicts.
  • Scalability: Supports layered architecture to adapt to different application scenarios.

Citation format and resolution service

The citation format of scientific data is divided into a general format and a special format based on OID:

General citation format example

Author.Name (version).Creation agency [Creation agency], creation time.Dissemination agency [Dissemination agency], dissemination time.Unique identifier; resolution address.

Implementation recommendations and best practices

To ensure the effective implementation of the standard, it is recommended that:

  • Data dissemination agencies should establish a complete citation system and clarify citation rules.
  • Data users must strictly follow the format to record scientific data information.
  • OID identifiers should be used first, and a resolution service system should be built in combination with the resolution requirements of GB/T35299-2017.
