Introduction

In-depth interpretation of the monitoring standard for citrus psyllid (Asian species)

1. Background and significance of standard formulation

Citrus psyllid (Asian species of Diaphorina citri Kuwayama) is the main vector of citrus Huanglongbing, and its monitoring is of great significance for controlling the spread of citrus Huanglongbing. This standard is formulated based on GB/T1.1-2009 and aims to standardize the investigation, identification and reporting process of citrus psyllid (Asian species) to ensure the scientificity and accuracy of epidemic monitoring work.

2. Biological characteristics and morphological characteristics of citrus psyllid

Citrus psyllid belongs to the family Psyllidae of the order Homoptera, and its morphological characteristics are an important basis for monitoring:

  • Adult: Body length is about 2.8-3mm, blue-gray, densely covered with brown spots, and has a scissor-shaped protrusion on the top of the head.
  • Eggs: mango-shaped, orange-yellow, about 0.3mm long.
  • Nymphs: flat oval, up to 2mm in length at the fifth instar stage.

3. Comparative analysis of citrus psyllid monitoring frameworks

Monitoring phase Non-infected areas Infected areas Identification methods
Visit survey Focus on monitoring citrus orchards adjacent to the infected areas Representative plots and host plant distribution areas Observation of morphological characteristics + laboratory testing
Field survey Random sampling survey Systematic monitoring GB/T29393-2012 method

4. Suggestions for monitoring implementation

Regional division:

  • Non-occurrence area: focus on the risk area of epidemic spread
  • Occurrence area: strengthen regional monitoring and prevention and control

Time planning:

  • The activity period of adults and nymphs is the best monitoring period
  • The specific implementation time should be adjusted according to climatic conditions

Technical suggestions:

  • Use Z-shaped sampling method for fixed-point monitoring
  • Use 40-mesh gauze to set up an observation garden for long-term observation

5. Implementation case analysis

Taking a citrus orchard in Guangxi as an example, monitoring was carried out in spring, summer and autumn shoots respectively using the Z-shaped sampling method:

Monitoring period Number of adults (heads/shoots) Number of nymphs (heads/tip) Subtotal
Spring tip period 5 10 15
Summer tip period 3 7 10
Autumn tip period 8 15 23
