Introduction

Standard Overview and Background

National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 35350-2017 "Requirements and Test Methods for Mechanical Connection Devices between Tractors and Towed Vehicles" is an important technical specification, which is mainly applicable to the No. 40 U-type connection device and tractor drawbar connection device between wheeled tractors and towed vehicles. This standard is managed by the National Technical Committee for Tractor Standardization and proposed by the China Machinery Industry Federation.

The background of the formulation of this standard is mainly based on the needs of agricultural mechanization development, aiming to improve the safety and reliability of mechanical connections between tractors and trailers. By standardizing the technical requirements and test methods of mechanical connection devices, it is ensured that they can work stably under various working conditions and avoid accidental disengagement or damage, thereby ensuring the safety of agricultural production.

Standard framework and technical points

Clause number Technical requirements Test method
4.1 Dimensions and material properties of mechanical connection devices Conduct static load tests with special equipment and record the deformation and permanent deformation.
4.2 Requirements for ground clearance of mechanical connection devices Calculate and verify whether the ground clearance of the tractor without counterweight and with front counterweight meets the specifications based on the formula.
5.2 Static test load and deformation control Start from zero and gradually increase to the preload, maintain for at least 60 seconds, and record the load/deformation curve.

Explanation of professional terms and practical application

Reference centre of mechanical coupling: It refers to the point on the axis of the connecting pins of the left and right wings of the U-shaped coupling device, and the intersection of the horizontal plane where the generatrix of its concave parts on the symmetry plane of the towing rod contacts the towing ring in the towing state. This point is the core reference point of the entire mechanical coupling device and is used to calculate the load and deformation.

Vertical load on the coupling point S: It refers to the static load on the reference centre of the mechanical coupling device, which directly affects the force state between the tractor and the towed vehicle. In actual application, this load needs to be determined by test methods and ensure that it does not exceed the maximum allowable value.

Height above ground of mechanical coupling: It refers to the distance between the horizontal plane passing through the reference center point of the mechanical coupling and the horizontal plane on which the tractor tire is parked when the tractor tire is stationary. This parameter has an important impact on the stability and safety of the mechanical coupling.

Implementation suggestions

In order to ensure the effective implementation of GB/T 35350—2017 standard, it is recommended that:

  • Strictly follow the technical requirements in the standard during the production process of tractors and trailers.
  • Manufacturers should be equipped with special test equipment and verify according to the test methods specified in the standard.
  • When using the mechanical coupling, users should check its status regularly to ensure that there is no permanent deformation or damage.
