Technology Maturity Level 9 Evaluation System

The standard divides technology maturity into three major development stages:

  1. R&D stage (TRL1-5): from basic principle discovery to simulated environment verification
  2. Engineering demonstration (TRL6-7): from prototype to engineering prototype verification
  3. Commercial application (TRL8-9): from offshore testing to commercial operation
