Introduction
National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 35772—2017
Rapid Detection Method of Phthalates in Polyvinyl Chloride Products - Infrared Spectroscopy
Overview of the Standard
This standard specifies the principle, reagents and materials, instruments and equipment, qualitative screening, quantitative analysis and result calculation for the rapid detection of phthalate plasticizers in polyvinyl chloride products by infrared spectroscopy. It is applicable to the qualitative and quantitative detection of polyvinyl chloride materials with a total phthalate content of not less than 1%.
Detection Principle
A series of standard samples containing phthalate plasticizers were prepared, their infrared spectral data were collected, and a partial least squares (PLS) chemometric model was established. The unknown samples were infrared scanned using the ATR accessory, and the characteristic peaks were used for qualitative analysis, and the content was determined in combination with the chemometric model.
Reagents and Materials
| Serial number | Reagent or material name | Specification requirements |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Phthalate standard | Purity ≥98% |
| 2 | Non-phthalate plasticizers | DOTP and TOTM, purity ≥97% |
Instruments and Equipment
Fourier transform infrared spectrometer:Conforms to GB/T6040-2002 requirements, equipped with germanium crystal ATR accessories.
Qualitative screening
If the sample has characteristic double peaks at 1580~1570 cm⁻¹ and 1600 cm⁻¹, it proves that it contains phthalates. For detailed steps, see Appendix B.
Quantitative analysis
| Steps | Operation instructions |
|---|---|
| Standard sample preparation | Prepare 15 standard samples with a concentration gradient ranging from 0.0% to 35% |
| Infrared test | Use ATR accessory with a resolution of 4 cm⁻¹ and a signal-to-noise ratio ≥50000:1 |
Implementation recommendations
To ensure the accuracy of the test, it is recommended that:
- Strictly follow the standard operating procedures for sample preparation and testing.
- Regularly calibrate the instrument to ensure measurement accuracy.
- For complex samples, pretreatment is recommended to reduce interference factors.
