Introduction

1. Standard background and scope of application

This standard GB/T 35902-2018 "Identification and detection of hairy clam germplasm" was proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China and is managed by the Marine Aquaculture Sub-Technical Committee of the National Technical Committee for Aquatic Products Standardization. This standard applies to the identification and detection of hairy clam germplasm, and its main contents include scientific name and classification, morphological characteristics, growth and reproduction, cytogenetic characteristics, biochemical genetic characteristics and detection methods.

3. Main morphological characteristics of hairy clams

The shell of the razor clam is long and oval, with a hard and thick shell, a bulge on the outside, a white shell surface, and a brown velvety shell skin. The number of radial ribs is 31-39, usually 34-36.

4. Growth and Reproductive Characteristics

The shell length, shell height and shell width of the clams increased significantly with age (as shown in Table 2). The relationship between its body weight and shell length can be estimated by the formula $W=10^{-4}\times1.175L^{3.2227}$, where $W$ represents body weight in grams and $L$ represents shell length in millimeters.

5. Implementation suggestions

To ensure the accuracy of identification and testing of hairy clam germplasm, it is recommended in actual operation:

  • Strictly follow the sampling method specified in the standard to collect samples (the number of samples for each group should be more than 30).
  • Use precise measuring tools (such as vernier calipers and balances) to measure shell length, shell height, shell width and live weight.
  • Follow the testing methods in the standard to ensure that the analysis of chromosome number statistics and biochemical genetic characteristics meet the technical requirements.
